Former residents say boys were routinely beaten and subjected to other harsh treatment and that some died as a result. Now, families of boys who died there want answers. To learn more see:

https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=209584938

USF researchers find more graves at Dozier School for Boys

Another 19 unmarked graves have been found at a north Florida boy’s reform school. Researchers from the University of South Florida are reporting findings based ground penetrating radar and soil chemistry to answer questions surrounding the Dozier School for Boys in Marianna.

USF archeological and anthropological researchers think it’s likely that there is a second cemetery in that location based on the fact that records show 81 reported deaths at the school. Antoinette Jackson, an anthropologist on the research team said the prevalence of segregation during the time of the reported deaths also suggests the possibility of other burial sites. For more on the story see:

http://news.usf.edu/article/templates/?a=5498&z=210

For more information including a copy of the report see:

http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/08/06/at-a-florida-reform-school-exhuming-the-victims-and-the-truth/

http://www.usforacle.com/reform-through-fear-1.2830231#.UhputODA404

http://news.usf.edu/article/templates/?a=5043&z=123

http://www.npr.org/2012/10/15/162941770/floridas-dozier-school-for-boys-a-true-horror-story

New York Times front page story (2/9/2013) – http://www.nytimes.com/2013/02/10/us/10dozier.html?pagewanted=all&_r=0

Visit the USF Library Dozier Project Digital Archive at:
http://guides.lib.usf.edu/dozier

Institute of Forensic Anthropology and Applied Sciences – Boot Hill Cemetery Project
http://forensics.usf.edu/projects/fsb/

USF Dozier Research Team Presents at the American Anthropology Association Meetings The USF Department of Anthropology Research team, Drs.
