In the Spring of 2011, I collaborated with the Sulphur Springs Museum and Heritage Center (SSMHC) as part of a service learning experience for a Visual Anthropology course. The purpose of the project was to unite community elders and teens to: 1) share artifacts including visual images that have historical meaning and value about the community for participants; 2) engage elders and youth in collaborative discussion about their community and its history; 3) acquire relevant artifacts/materials for inclusion in the museum and new Springhill Park Community Center (SPCC) in Sulphur Springs.
